Our History
Nautica’s boatyard was founded in 1988 by Markus Niederberger and Umberto Stalder in the port of Lugano. Markus Niederberger brought his talent and expertise in boatbuilding, while Umberto Stalder was a passionate sailor who, as a Lugano native, knew half the town.
Within a few years, the team became a well-established name on Lake Lugano, driven by their commitment to caring for every boat with precision, expertise and an eye for the details that matter.
Our way of working
We are just as proud of our craft today as we were back then. That is why we do more than what is strictly necessary and always think one step ahead. Care, attention to detail and good organisation shape our daily work. This makes us a reliable partner – at the boatyard and on the lake.
Our team
We are boat technicians and boatbuilders, mechanics and painters, all-rounders and organisers. We share a passion for boats and the lake – and the ambition to make our work a little better every day.
Our Facilities
At the Port of Lugano, we operate a mechanical workshop, a crane and our own fuel station. At our headquarters in Bioggio, we have modern facilities for carrying out all maintenance and repair work professionally and efficiently. Each year, we also provide secure winter storage for more than 150 boats at our Bioggio site.
What drives us
The marine world are constantly evolving. We stay curious, look for practical solutions and are always willing to explore new ways of doing things. To us, good tradition does not mean doing everything the way it was done in the past – it means preserving what works and continuing to develop it.
